Review of Pandorum (2009) by Erik A — 15 Apr 2013

This is a deeply flawed movie with a seemingly good premise.

What makes this movie and what had lead the way before (Alien trilogy and others as mentioned in other reviews) in all be it better format (acting, screenplay, plot) is that it takes a human/s isolates them and shakes them up through violence, mayhem and confusion.

The main characters really do not know themselves, have forgotten what is important, what keeps them different from the animals/creatures that are hunting them. It's an exploration/exploitation of what it means to be human, when even that is forgotten.

Compelling premise, but this movie got lost in its own confusion of a bad screenplay. Even accomplished actors can't save this crap of a story. Great idea bad execution.

As others have said, better than what I can say myself, the movie started out with a bang and ended with a whimper. For me if the movie removed all the tunnel scenes, the movie would be so much more enjoyable.

Yes the movie reminded me of watching a video game. At the time of watching I could not name which one, but it was on the tip of my tongue, until now -- "Dead Space". The game involves the main character suffering from amnesia, learning that he is on a slowly collapsing starship. The plot involves biological experiments that were conducted on the crew and now the main character discovers these mutants/once human monsters trying to kill him. The game involves running around in tunnels, fighting off these mutants in dark decaying spaceship tunnels. Missions involve bring the ship back to power, getting the generators back online, etc. I have not finished the game, it's boring and confused, just like the movie.
