Pay it Forward takes its overly utopian plot and makes the intelligent decision of stretching it out to a surprisingly subtle level, earning viewers' tears rather than manipulating them -- and benefits massively from complex, emotionally powerful performances from Haley Joel Osment, Kevin Spacey and Helen Hunt.
