Review of Pee-wee's Big Adventure (1985) by Simon D — 09 May 2014

How did this film not end Tim Burtons' career? It's bad; Pee Wee is one of the most annoying characters in the history of film and the story is too childish for children. I don't know where this character sprang from.

I am assuming that he was established on TV or in kids books first meaning that this was not a horrible shock for those who were looking forward to seeing this. For a director who specialises in goth comedy this is about as opposite as you can get to the kind of rubbish he's putting out nowerdays.

Wouldn't it have been funny though, if he's latched onto Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham-Carter before he made this.
