Review of Penguins of Madagascar (2014) by Mark F — 13 Apr 2017
Not to be confused with the Nickelodeon TV show of the same name except with a "the" which this film is hardly related to, Penguins of Madagascar is every bit as colourful as an animation enthusiast or fan of DreamWorks should come to expect.
And while it can go a bit overboard on the term "silly", I still found the film to be pretty hilarious for what it was. The slapstick never ceased to amuse me and the penguins seem to make the most out of having a spin-off like what DreamWorks did with Puss in Boots.
Private is given a sense of purpose which fans of the cute British-accented penguin should admire. Remember, this is a stand-alone spin-off that's not meant to be an adaptation of the TV show. Enjoyable.
A bit too silly for its own good but an enjoyable harmless movie.
