Review of Pi (1998) by Angel G — 01 Aug 2015
Pi is arguably the most bizarre independent first feature from one of the most acclaimed directors of our time (Darren Aronofsky). It's also sometimes frustrating to watch but very chilling thanks to memorable sound effects and weird cinematography.
There is no denying that it's a smart movie, and also frighting since we have to hear Sean Gullette scream in pain for becoming mad and obsessed. What makes it more effecting is how it sounds from the camera.
The music is what I like most of this movie, the score was fantastic. There are certain scenes in which it becomes extremely disturbing and Pi gives you an anxiety so big that it makes you feel scared.
The movie is 1 hr. and 25 min. and it feels like 40 more minutes have been added to the movie. It's shaky camera is annoying and it's sometimes uncomfortable to watch. You kind of get exhausted from it.
Pi is smart, its disturbing, its bizarre, weird, slow, chilling and not so confusing, but it's not for everyone.
