Review of Pitch Perfect 3 (2017) by Evan P — 21 Dec 2017
It was a bit of an ordeal to get through. If you're going for the music and performing like I was you'll be very disappointed at the lack of both. The actual performing is great when it's not in a budget saving montage. A couple of forced romances that drop all purpose of subplots of the last movies. The girls have great chemistry and it's always great to see them together... Too bad so much of the plot isn't about them or their journey but the depressing lesson of the movie being; 'It's time to move on.' It really does feel like a slap in the face to a devoted fan base.
Unfortunately this movie suffers from how in third movie franchises one of the big plots is about something that happened prior to the first movie that no character has ever mentioned or even hinted at before now and it engulfs the entire plot Say goodbye to great climaxes with amazing performances... Not a spoiler, a warning for those of you who care.
There are some genuinely touching, memorable and hilarious scenes that makes this movie worth watching. But if at all possible, I suggest you go on a $5 movie day if your Marcus Theater offers it like mine.
