Review of Pixels (2015) by Joe C — 16 Jul 2017
I think for as long as I live, I will have a soft spot for Adam Sandler films. It might be a generational defect, or something else entirely, but whatever the man makes, regardless of critical acclaim, or lack thereof we should say, I just cannot hate his films.
That being said, he has gone way downhill in the last 15 years, lets be clear. However, that being said as well, this one was a little different. I have a fondness for old school video games. Josh Gad, when in full out comedy assault mode, kills me.
I am a fan of Peter Dinklage in whatever he is in, and the idea of the "FireBlaster" cracks me up to no end. So with all that on the books, it still had a questionable plot with even dumber sequences in between and way too much downtime filled with unnecessary references, which is a lot, coming from me.
Average Sandler film. 3/5.
