Review of Quicksilver (1986) by Chris H — 06 Jun 2009
My main reason for taking interest in the picture was that Tony Banks did the soundtrrack. I had no expectations other than Kevin Bacon was starring. Turns out Laurence Fishburne has a small but played well role.
At first the picture is a drama about a professional Stock Broker that got screwed out of a lot of money. Now he becomes a Bicycle messenger and likes his job a lot. The movie is not bad in that you are not disappointed at least I was not.
It does its job good as a mild drama with no heavy issues confronted. The worst thing that happened was Laurence Fishburne died even though it might have been ruled an accident it definitely was not. The main villian Rudy Ramos is good and Louie Anderson was in the movie but very little.
The strongest point is the soundtrack and the bicycle chase and montage sequences are not bad. The final chance scene does get jarring but it does not really matter. Overall, not a bad film and although not gonna knock you off your seat it still does its job good.
