Review of Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) by Nick H — 29 Jun 2018
As someone not blinded by nostalgia, only recently viewing this movie for the first time, it is clear that the magic the film provided in '81 does not hold up in modern day. a combination of static, undeveloped characters and lazy, poorly written dialogue make it hard to connect and empathize with the film.
The action sequences are surprisingly bland with poor choreography and camerawork. on the positive side, there are a couple of genuine laughs, and Harrison Ford is great like always. Overall, it's a passable film that neither fucks up or exceeds expectations.
