Review of Ramona and Beezus (2010) by Zack S — 20 Sep 2010
I kind of hate to admit it, but I really liked Ramona and Beezus. I remember the books as a kid. To be honest though, I only read about three pages into them and just skipped to the very end. Therefore, I can't really tell you if this is a spot-on adaptation or not.
Still, this is a really cute, feel-good family film. Joey King steals the show with her performance as Ramona. Although everyone else is pretty good too. Selena Gomez surprised me especially. It may not exactly cover everything in the books, but still does a good job with it.
I also really liked how funny it was as well. There are a lot of touching and charming moments. Overall, this movie is really sweet, sunny, and wholesome. Great to watch with your family especially. Maybe I should have read the books in their entirety before seeing this, but there's enough here where I was still satisfied.
Good fun!
