Review of Reminiscence (2021) by Mauro_Lanari — 20 Sep 2021
(Mauro Lanari).
Lisa Joy's debut is an unsuccessful remake of "Blade Runner" threaded between "Strange Days" and "Waterworld": the score of Vangelis is missing, the charisma of the actors is missing, the emotion of that post-catastrophist atmosphere is missing. Which is explained by remembering that the director is the co-author of "Westworld" (the TV series) and, above all, that she produces together with her husband Jonathan Nolan. Therefore it is spelt "Reminiscence" but it is pronounced, once again, "Memento" with its convoluted reflections on the three temporal extensions and on love as catabasis and anabasis.
