What a mediocre journey this has been. Starting with the original Resident Evil (2002) film and now to this. The movies themselves are loosely based on the video games of the same name, but pretty much tell their own original story.

This film takes place after the events of the previous film Resident Evil: Retribution (2012) and we follow Alice (Milla Jovovich) as she wanders the wastelands of Earth. The T-Virus has pretty much eliminated about 95% of the Earth's population turning them into zombies.

Alice soon receives word from the A.I. Red Queen (Ever Anderson) that there is a vaccine that can be sent airborne, but to get it going Alice needs to return to Raccoon City. Problem is Raccoon city was nuked and is a complete disaster.

Soon enough Alice re-teams with Claire Redfield (Ali Larter) and her crew to go down into Raccoon City and release the vaccine. Unfortunately, Dr Isaacs (Ian Glen) and Albert Wesker (Shawn Roberts) the series baddies are there to make sure Alice doesn't fix the whole world.

These movies have never looked that good. The CGI has always looked iffy at time and this movie is no exception. While there are some pretty cool monster special effects in this one there is still some very bleak sets and not much to see here (how many times have we seen the HIVE in 14 years?).

Jovovich also still delivers some of the worst one liners I have ever heard in my life (cringe worthy to the max), but she seems to enjoy doing these movies and has been a highlight for the most part as an action heroine these last 14 years.

The films plot is really just eh. It's just an excuse to go back to Raccoon City, but I never felt like there was much difference in this plot and much of the previous ones. It's a forgettable film and a real fall for the ending to the series, but truthfully it was about time.
