Review of Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (2021) by Arostislavna — 21 Dec 2021
Poor casting choices for Leon and Jill, and recreated scenery from Resident Evil 2 & 3 "Remakes", lastly... it drags on pointlessly slow with tons of filler garbage, and the writers, director and production crew clearly have not played the original trilogy + Code Veronica. Resident Evil 1 is supposed to take place BEFORE Resident Evil 2 & 3 (which 2 & 3 happen at the same time as each other), it then has random instances where Lisa kills the RPD Licker, The RPD Licker kills Chief Irons, Wesker is supposedly a "good guy" that was forced to steal the G-Virus, and kills Birkin and Annette, alludes to Code Veronica slightly, Sherry is almost non-existent and does not get infected (even though the story of her infection is disturbing and would make the film restricted/not rated anyway), no Mr. X, and no Tyrant.
How can you overlook something so crucial to the canonical timeline, let alone screw up all of the events of FOUR video games?
These people that wrote this film have NEVER played a Resident Evil game.
In closing, Resident Evil & Resident Evil: Apocalypse are superior films, watch those instead and forget that this poor excuse for a "Resident Evil film" exists, and a message to the director and writers - YOU WASTED $25 MILLION DOLLARS ON THIS GARBAGE.
