Review of Rest Stop (2006) by Todd S — 12 Mar 2011
I have had this in my collection for a long time, and I finally got around to watching it. What a disappointment. I don't want to give anything away to those of you who might not have "figured it out", but let's just say that it would have been 100 times better if they had picked a direction and went with it.
Either be a straight-up slasher film, or be a supernatural type film. The filmmakers tried to mix the two, and it ended up as a fail. There are too many plot holes, and with some simple exposition, they could have made the film much easier to understand.
Once you "get it", it does start to make a little more sense, but not much. Plus, I don't mind having to use my brain during a movie, but I don't want to have to work that hard to figure out what's going on.
There are a few decent gore/torture scenes, but not enough to save the film. If you want to know the "secret", message me and I will tell you.
