Rise of the Planet of the Apes is an okay start to an actually great trilogy. It's a little careful and doesn't rush things. The movie is a little short and makes you feel a little bit underwhelmed. To really enjoy this movie you should watch Dawn of the Planet of the Apes immediately after Rise. Which is disappointing because Dawn and War are perfectly watchable on their own. Anyway, Rise leaves a lot to be desired but it's still a pretty good movie with some pretty good visual effects and acting by Andy Serkis and James Franco.
