Review of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) by James P — 02 Dec 2018
"Rogue One" definitely deserves props for it's originality and attempting to steer away from the Skywalker storyline. The film is bleak and gloomy with it's atmosphere which is exactly the tone it needed for the particular story it's telling.
Overall, it's a successful film, but where it suffers, I believe, is it's pacing. I remained intrigued throughout, but there were quite a few moments when the film lost momentum, by the end, it comes out ahead, if only the energy didn't run out too frequently.
Not filling for a main dish, but it is a great appetizer.
