Review of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) by Shawn C — 04 Jan 2019
Rogue One is the only decent Star Wars movie I have seen put out by Disney. The Force Awakens was a mediocre rehash of A New Hope that I'd give 3/5 stars for being mediocre but not very original and having Rey be a complete Mary Sue who can defeat Kylo in a lightsaber fight with no training at all.
The Last Jedi I'd rate as absolute garbage and an insult to both the original and prequel trilogies. I never bothered to see Solo after being betrayed by the piece of crap that was The Last Jedi and hearing about the director switching fiasco and that they messed with Lando and turned him pansexual (seriously Disney, stop messing with the nature of existing characters).
However, Rogue One was a great movie that felt like Star Wars, it did not seem to contradict any existing major lore, it fit in well with the Star Wars universe and gave us a side story to the original trilogy.
The characters were great. I really liked the military droid they programmed to be on their side, it was a very funny character. An epic battle of a small resistance of rebels braving taking on a task against the odds in order to resist The Empire.
Spoiler alert: The Epic scene with Darth Vader at the end. This is the type of Star Wars movie I want to see, not the other junk Disney has been putting out with their lazy, unplanned plot of their sequel trilogy (remember if you fail to plan you plan to fail Disney).
