Review of Roma (2018) by Steven W — 14 Dec 2018
Spoiler alerts **Made we want to see Marooned if nothing else. If an oscar winning director needs to be told that if you have the sky as a backdrop for your ending credits on a black and white film your font probably shouldn't be white then I guess mentioning that a story about a girl who lost a baby she didn't even want wouldn't stir me in the way he may think.
And in teaching Mexican history to a non citizen even bigger fail there. Protesters are marching and you see uniformed military and then you see a civilian get shot by other people dressed in civilian clothing.
Turns out its the wanna be mexican ninja assassins. Makes perfect sense. Not to mention the fire scene where the guy breaks into a sullen (not subtitled) song! Kudos to the throw mama from the train actress look alike and the (un)lifelike baby corpse.
