Review of Roma (2018) by Compi24 — 31 Jan 2019
The kind of stick-to-your-ribs filmmaking with the potential to please any kind of movie fan. It's soulful enough to please the arthouse/indie crowd, emotionally broad and cathartic enough to please more Western-minded cinema-goers, and technically proficient enough to get the fans of craft going as well.
This really is a terrific example of personal filmmaking at its finest, as director Alfonso Cuaron basically bleeds himself, his history, and his worldview onto every frame in the picture. In short, it's a triumph.
