Review of Run Lola Run (1998) by David S — 19 Jan 2010
This filmed remained on my must view list for quite a few years, and after having finally gotten the chance to see it I can surely say that it's the adrenaline rush it was made out to be. Far from flawless, but certainly enjoyable and contains an interesting point of discussion at it's core. How small a decision can change the course of the future.
The visuals are mostly impressive but some awkward animation scenes kind of throw things off for me. Not that animation was a bad idea, I just would've reevaluated the animator. The camerawork worked for the face pacing without submitting to the Michael Bay style editing. Franka Potente was terrific as Lola and the supporting cast is perfect as well.
All in all, I should have seen this a whole lot sooner. Few films can reach and sustain an energy level such as this, and I can guarantee that you won't be bored. If you haven't taken the time to watch, heed my advise and check it out soon...
