Review of Same Kind of Different as Me (2017) by Mark F — 23 Mar 2017
Haters might think this is about a rich white man's savior complex. But oh how the actually story turns that narrative on its head. I read the book. Saw the movie. It's a bases-loaded home run! It's a complicated story of brokenness told at the speed of relationships.
I felt the pain and disappointment through the eyes of a scary homeless man (Djimon Hounsou) and a lost-his way affluent businessman (Greg Kinnear). Woven together by a strong, wounded yet compassionate woman (Renee Zellwinger) who saw a vision of a poor wise man that would change their city.
