Review of Scrooged (1988) by David A — 14 Nov 2018
Has a great message, same goes for every other "Christmas Carol" adaptations, but what it lacks is its focus. "Scrooged" is ruined by an uneven tone that shifts from holiday spirit to just plain mean.
The filmmakers can't find a middle ground of what kind of story it wants to tell. Not only that, but some of the characters and their stories didn't feel like they were flesh out. Bill Murray also delivered an lackluster performance here, probably due to the differences he had with the director on set (from what I read).
Still, there's some jokes to be had, but not enough to warrant it as a Christmas classic.
