Critics who made unfortunate comparisons to Knives Out did unnecessary damage to this story, and while it may be understandable why these comparisons were made, See How They Run is a very different animal and unlike Rian Johnson's film, this one doesn't make the most of its plot or its cast by making the very basic mistake of failing to sustain what is initially quite solid, but gradually dissolves and never manages to rebound.
It doesn't completely deviate and the proceedings are competent enough, but that a film like this, which seemed so interesting and features a more than remarkable cast leaves you with no impression at the end, it reveals unequivocally that what was delivered was barely relevant.
