Review of Self/less (2015) by Kyle R — 16 May 2018
Hahahahaha. Go on, what would be the best way to expose the nefarious activities of your clandestine organisation when trying to silence someone? It would be sending some guys around to a public place to fire guns, you might think.
Not indiscrete enough? Okay, guys with guns and a flamethrower to make it look like an 'accident'! Honestly, I thought the stretch limo was OTT, but the clean up operation is a joke. This film is full of this woeful attention to detail.
Reynolds is always watchable so I stayed to the end but, Jesus was it a shambles. One thing I did like was the director surely being mischievous in the selection of Kingsley's blingtastic apartment.
The obvious message being 'Look at the rich twat and his shameless excess'. Does someone live in that for real? Whoever it is should be named and shamed and, should this technology ever come along, be prevented at all costs from using it.
A silly romp at no point offering even a scintilla of suspense but plenty of action if you're brain dead.
