Review of Sense and Sensibility (1995) by Helena T — 01 Feb 2009
Nobility, restraint, passion, pride, yearning, mannered. These are the attributes that unite the best 'costume dramas', and you'll struggle to find a finer example in each than this, Ang Lee's English Language debut.
The casting is pitch perfect, even when against type (Rickman at the time), and the films pace is so beautifully judged.
