Review of Setup (2012) by Rafael O — 04 Oct 2011
Setup is a pretty bad movie with a few things that kept me from giving it half a star out of five. They should have decided to screw the whole thing over and just turn it into a comedy because I laughed a few times in this movie and the stuff they said was just really funny or if they weren't going for comedy this was just really poor dialogue.
The story was decent but they could have done so much stuff to make this better. Like the title says a group of friends rob a car holding diamonds for money and one sets the other ones up. After that the main character Sunny goes after his friend who set him up and killed his best friend.
While in the process he gets caught up with so many other people that were involved with the diamonds such as a hitman and a mob leader. The acting in this movie was decent overall but wasn't enough to save the movie.
After seeing him in one movie I thought 50 Cent was a terrible actor but in this he was overall decent but I really think he should just be a rapper because he is not a impressive actor and will probably never be one.
Bruce Willis play the mob leader and his character is just a funny guy that made me laugh and make me not entirely hate this movie, but it was still bad. The best actor in this movie is by far is Ryan Phillippe, his performance was pretty good because he plays the bad-ass who just doesn't really care about much.
He pretty much saves the movie but can't make it any better. Overall if you walking around your movie store and you find this don't even touch it.
