Review of Shade (2014) by Colin N — 14 May 2008
Better than style than 'Confidence' with better character building, but as grifter movies go 'Confidence' has a better plot. The cast however in 'Shade' is superb. Everyone is where they should be and nothing is too flamboyant or gritty.
People get f-ed, rich and betrayed right and left within this 100 minute con-film but in the end everything comes out on top. Very enjoyable and worth the rent. Slyvester Stallone was indeed the actor for the role of The Dean, and Gabriel Byrne playing the role he plays best: That Irish Guy with a remarkable performance by Stuart Townsend (boyfriend of knockout Charlize Theron) make the film that more entertaining.
