Review of Shadow of a Doubt (1943) by Eric H — 07 Apr 2013
Shadow of a Doubt is a wonderful film which shows clearly Hitchcock's skill at building and maintaining suspense throughout a film's run. But it is not just the suspense that makes this movie work.
The whole presentation of Santa Rosa-the feel of a sleepy, pleasant little town-is charming, the dialog is witty and entertaining and the characters are well developed, interesting and well acted. No one does a bad job in this film and they all fit together perfectly within the framework of the story.
Definitely recommended.
