Review of Shanghai Knights (2003) by Sam J — 29 Oct 2018
Let's be honest, we let kung fu comedies get away with a lot of crap. They can have the most cringe-worthy writing, but since the classics were such B-list titles, it was all part of the charm. Shanghai Knights is a film that proves big budgets come with big responsibilities: Chan and Wilson make a great duo, but the overly-dumb comedy just isn't as fitting in a film that co-stars a fluently American actor and has a budget of $50 million.
It's a B-list movie dressed in AAA clothing, making for a really confusing watch. Not horrible, but not recommended.
