Review of Shaun the Sheep Movie (2015) by Brad N — 09 Aug 2015

Wow, the biggest disappointment of 2015 for me. After reading all of the rave revues here on RT I thought this movie was going to be slam dunk for my family. Boy, was I wrong.

At a mere 90 mins the move still felt very long. My wife and two kids (6 and 3) were all bored. My kids love movies and rarely lose interest in an animated flick. They also LOVE the 7 minute short of Shaun The Sheep. But with the movie they were both ready to go after about 40 minutes...as was I. This movie is very niche. I can see why a few people might give it rave reviews, but this is not one for the masses. Did I love the animation style? Sure, it was unique and different. But there are virtually no spoken dialog for the entire move. Again, some might like that style...but for 90 minutes, my family was out.

If you want to see something different than the same ol' Disney princes template, something with an artistic animation style, and something on the fringe give this a try. But for the masses and those with young children I say stay away from this one.
