Review of Sherlock Gnomes (2018) by Tim W — 16 May 2018
After watching the trailer for Sherlock Gnomes, I had lots of hopes about this film when I went to see it on 7th May with a friend of mine.
The first five minutes of the film was very interesting (with the funny red goon gnomes introducing the tale) and with Sherlock Gnomes and Watson taking action in a museum too before the opening title came in.
However, I am so sorry to say this, but the rest film got so disappointing and not even Johnny Depp could save this dire try-hard comedy.
It basically feels as if an original Sherlock Holmes story has been stolen, not to mention that they stole the original Sherlock Holmes and Watson characters and turned them into bloody gnomes (pardon my language)!
Plus, I found the villain and some of the animation a bit creepy - but even worse, a couple of the very funny moments from the trailer (like the moment where Mankini jumped into quicksand and the moment where Sherlock Gnomes accidentally broke a red goon gnome when he arrived on the scene of the crime) were strangely cut out of the film!
WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO?
The film did have its moments as well, but apart from that, I've already cracked the case of checking out whether this film is terrible or not. It's terrible. Not bad, but so not great.
