Review of Shutter Island (2010) by Riff J — 21 Jul 2018
It's predictable to be sure and the final revelation is laid out clumsily but this is mostly an excuse for Scorsese to unapologetically pay homage to the Gothic thrillers of his youth and on that level it succeeds.
I just wish he'd cut a good 50% of the dialogue and let the imagery tell the story and sell the tragedy.
