Review of Silence (2017) by Adam C — 27 May 2017
Whilst the movie does not glorify the work of martyrs, and does openly question the ethics of their actions. However it finds a way to still glorify faith itself and portray the japanese in a poor light.
The reasonning behind the Japanese is cast aside to highlight the strength of the missionary, in my eyes the story could of been far superior if it looks from both perspectives, a nation fighting to retain it's unity.
An opportunity was lost to question the ethics of faith in the supernatural itself.
