Review of Silent Running (1972) by Amy D — 04 Feb 2010
Perhaps this was a great movie when it came out, but it seems so overdone and heavy-handed now. Bruce Dern is good in this movie, but that's about all that's worth mentioning. The music by Joan Baez is way over the top and there were too many plot holes. Or perhaps I just paid too much attention in high school biology.
For example, if all the forests are in space, what is everyone on Earth breathing? If the temperature on Earth is a constant 75 degrees, what happened to the winter sports industry? And is it 75 at night, too? And why does the guy taking care of the plants not know they need SUNLIGHT?!?
You could do worse, but not by much.
