Review of Simon of the Desert (1965) by Zeeshan M — 24 Jun 2008
Interesting short. It's 45 minutes long but if the producers hadn't run out of money, it was going to be longer. Bunuel's critique of organised religion [or more precisely, asceticism and religious orthodoxy] might have been extraordinary and clever for its time but forty odd years later, it's casually amusing.
The concern is though, why is satan a woman in all three forms? it's either a sexy schoolgirl, a bearded she-christ or an irritable, tit-baring woman?
