Review of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014) by Chucky . — 12 Mar 2017
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For presents three semi-related vignettes in a hammy, cartoonishly-violent riff on the writing of Mickey Spillane or Raymond Chandler. Of course, the first Sin City did pretty much the same thing.
So, why was that one a fun ride while this one feels like a labored chore? Some blame the long wait between the first film and the second while others point at the declining aura surrounding writer/director Frank Miller, but I personally feel that the editing on Sin City: A Dame To Kill For was much sloppier and choppier than in the preceding entry.
The storytelling in this film felt so disjointed, hasty, uneven, and bored that I simply couldn't lose myself in the cheesy, hyper-violent spectacle.
