Review of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014) by Charles Austin M — 21 Oct 2015
Almost, but not quite as good as the original. This one has an updated look, which, while still just as stylish, sharp, and crystal-clear, isn't as interesting. Better performances from some, particularly Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
The stories are much less captivating, though they do have a lot of unique aspects that I can respect. The characters are different, to say the least. The ones that were, shall we say, underdeveloped in the first film, have been expanded, and some of the roles that were more complex in it's predecessor now seem more shallow.
The original was a truly great example of filmmaking. This one, just a pretty good film. Still, that doesn't make it any less of a pretty good film. Worth a watch and more.
