Review of Skinwalkers (2002) by Laurel S — 07 Mar 2011
This was a really interesting idea wrapped up in a terribly presented package. Nothing too original here, but the story of a pre-teen half-breed being protected by a pack of unwilling werewolves (who are in turn protected by a group of helpful Native Americans) could have been a really captivating character piece .
.. where we really got to see important issues of belonging and race get talked about. Instead, we got an awkwardly paced and poorly acted (was the Grandma unloading on those guys with a magnum?!) mess that hardly kept my attention.
No seriously, I walked out of the room at least three times before boredom compelled me to finish this movie. I'm disappointed, because I was really looking forward to this movie ... usually After Dark has more interesting films in their lineup.
The best part about this movie though? Not a single vampire in sight. Yeah, Underworld may have been interesting and all ... but now you cannot watch a werewolf movie without some blood sucking pretty boys walking around.
Dx.
