Review of Skyscraper (2018) by Dave R — 15 Jul 2018
It's hard not to think of the movie Die Hard while watching Skyscraper. I mean you have Dwayne Johnson jumping in and out of a tall building much like Bruce Willis did. However, the movies have changed since Die Hard.
First, Die Hard was R rated, and had a real edge with much more comedy. Skyscraper puts together a bunch of, "man there's no way he could do that" moments that to me just simply distract from the finished product.
I enjoy Johnson and don't mind suspending belief for a movie, but this one is a bit much. In a film where only the bad guys with guns die, it is just a little too far fetched. The movie does make you feel like you are in a tall building a few times, so that was cool.
Otherwise, if you are a Neve Campbell fan you will be glad to see her back. Me I was like, who is that and where do I know her? I'd say pretty much skip this one, unless you are a true The Rock fan.
