Review of Skyscraper (2018) by Goldfingerxl — 19 Apr 2020
I don't blame Dwayne Johnsen, he is so likable. Being the main actor, he is just trying to do the best with the script that he has been given, but my god, who wrote this SJW BS!
A disabled black man (can I say black? I don't know anymore, american race politics confuse me...) killing off ex-military dudes who all happen to be straight white males (saying white is okay right?). A weakling father figure who is being disrespected by his controlling, independent and strong wahmen at every opportunity he must try to save his family from a burning Skyscraper in Hongkong.
The story is paper thin and we have seen it all before. There is no character development whatsoever and Johnson is performing impossible feats with his prostetic leg (like jumping a 20 meter gap from a crane into said Skyscraper). The way the writers are celebrating disability is utterly cringe-worthy and has nothing to do with the struggles these humans face on a daily basis. Besides from Johnson, all the other men are also portrayed as weaklings or bad, while the wahmen are good, strong and powerful. The wife ultimately saves the day while Johnson is cowering like a dog after just killing off all the big bad white dudes.
I think I have made my point. I was lucky to see this movie on Amazon prime, because if I had paid for a cinema ticket, I would seriously be very disappointed. As mentioned above, I think Dwayne Johnson is so likable and I believe he does not need to be involved with these kinds of SJW movies. Total waste of my time and I do not recommend.
