Review of Sleeping with the Enemy (1991) by Paul D — 03 Mar 2018
This film left me deeply conflicted. It has some strong points: Julia Roberts is outstanding, playing this movie straight and being completely believable; and both Patrick Bergin and Kevin Anderson are also very good; and the film deals with important themes of spousal violence and sexual obsession.
However, the movie itself is a manipulative, predictable, thriller/slasher/horror piece - thankfully without the typical horror-movie other-worldly devices, make-up and monsters. It worth seeing, to decide for yourself.
