Review of Sleuth (1972) by Justin R — 16 Jul 2009
If this was originally created for theater, for me, it worked just as swell on film. I actually don't care if it was supposed to be for the theater and if the plot lacks 'everything'. I enjoyed it a lot.
I also learned that most of the critics, and I mean A LOT of them, didn't like it that much and prefer the original version. But the hell with critics. That's their job anyway, to criticize. Besides everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
While watching, I reached the point when I kept on glancing on the time code to see how many more minutes are left. I almost didn't want it to end. I want Jude and Michael's dialogues to go on over and over.
Very eccentric movie but very interesting and humorous too. Amazing camera angles and a great set. And as for the acting, jeez, extraordinary. Michael Cane is amazing, and Jude Law is one hell of an actor.
