Review of Solaris (2002) by Emil K — 04 Mar 2009
This stunningly atmospheric and haunting film from director Steven Soderbergh is also his best. This is a film that approaches it subject with strangely cold and hypnotic effect that perfectly creates a feel of total isolation.
It is a poetic and lightly surreal film about memories and a second chance in love with complex philosophical thoughts. Solaris is one of the most heartbreaking films ever made about love lost and found again.
It is also absolutely the best film that director Steven Soderbergh has made so far in his career. This is a film that will stay with you. Images, music, longing, grief and the lonely feel of this piece of art is something that will haunt you for a long time.
A Work of a auteur in full control of his vision.
