Review of Song to Song (2017) by Andy P — 23 Jul 2017
Every since The Tree of Life, Malick's last three films have been an exercise in patience and tolerance. Similar to his last film Knight of Cups, SONG TO SONG follows a bunch of pretty people as the contemplate their existence. Nothing really happens and we spend 2 hours following these people around with no payoff. At least Knight of Cups had some kind of a plot. This one was just a series of scenes of the actors walking, staring, and narrating. I like Malick, but I think he is losing his touch.
Grade: C.
