Review of Spectre (2015) by Ryan V — 05 Feb 2018
I don't understand how this film relies on formula. Is there a car chase? Yes. Do the cars have machine guns and shoot rockets? No. Does Bond get tortured? Yes. Is the torture method over-the-top? No.
Does Bond have gadgets? Yes. Does he rely on them? No. Apart from the Bond girls the movie doesn't totally follow established 007 formula. Clearly it's an homage to the history of the franchise.
Also, digging into Bond's past is something we've seen only during Craig's tenure. As such, the film feels true to Craig's Bond. I'll go so far as to say Spectre is one of the best in the franchise.
