Review of Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) by Moviestalker — 14 Jul 2017
Breaks from canon can be a good thing, but not always and not in this movie: Things like "why is aunt may getting younger with every reboot" and "Why is Mary Jane now suddenly afro-american" really make me wonder what Hollywood is actually trying to accomplish here in this third (!) reboot of the Spiderman franchise.
Make it controversial so everyone watches it? I have no idea. What I *do* know is that 'Spiderman Homecoming' feels shallow: The main villain isn't threatening and both he and Iron Man just recite their lines and look bored as hell.
Raimi's Spiderman still is - at least for me - the better movie in just about every aspect.
