Review of Split (2017) by Jacob B — 14 Jan 2019
Those expecting to see all the personalities are going to be disappointed and the depiction of a DID patient as insane will be off-putting for some but Split is still a good movie benefiting from James McAvoy's excellent performance (even better: he's playing a personality that's currently pretending to be another one when he goes to visit his psychologist), a tense atmosphere that makes you hope The Witch's Anya Taylor-Joy escapes, some enjoyable subtle foreshadowing and one hell of a twist ending that suggests new ways to make a franchise.
For what is being called "the first supervillain origin story" - no, it doesn't have to do with the ending, what are you talking about? *nervous laughter* -, it's a pretty effective one.
