Review of Spring Breakers (2013) by Rodrigo D — 26 Dec 2013
So I actually had a lot of fun watching this film, even though it annoyed me at times and wasn't that groundbreaking; I can't pinpoint why I really liked it so much, but I did. The film is shot really cool with all the neon colors and I liked the music too.
The film is a bit of stretch as this girls "break bad" faster than Walter White, but I enjoyed the ride. James Franco is just loving his role and truly was the character of Alien and he gives one of the best performances of the year.
The 4 girls all do a really solid job in their roles and even though I didn't love the plot it worked (on a side note Gucci Mane should never be cast in another film ever again, he is terrible). The film is kind of uneven, but does have one of my favorite scenes of 2013 (no, not the threesome), but the 5 minute scene/montage set to 'Everytime' by Britney Spears was just awesome in my opinion and can totally be re watched often.
Overall, definitely not a perfect film, but it might be a little of a guilty pleasure for me even if I can't pinpoint why.
