Review of Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) by Matthew C — 29 Mar 2018

I wanted to love this movie I really did, and parts of it do bring back fond memories of the original Star Wars films. However my main gripe with this film is it's inconsistency within the Star Wars universe.

The thing that bothered me the most was how fast Rey picked up the force. It took Luke 2 films to become a Jedi and defeat Vader, however for whatever reason Rey was able to learn the force in about 5 min by closing her eyes.

Then to make matters worse she defeats Kylo Ren in the first film reducing his aura as a powerful adversary moving forward. I have no idea why they felt that was a good idea. Overall the film left a bitter taste in my mouth and gets only 2 stars from this Star Wars fan.

The prequel series is shaping up to be much more interesting than the sequels.
