Review of Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) by N B — 25 Jun 2018
A fairly fun movie that you have seen before. A retread of episode 4 with some unfortunate character choices. Aside from the original trilogy cast most of the characters are as dull or worse than those from the prequels.
The lack of new ships or new and different places doesn't help. Say what you will about the prequels, they at least had new and amazing ships, places, and aliens in every film. We are back to x wing vs tie fighter after 30 years? The main character is unrelateable and reads more like a bad fanfiction.
She has no drive and is good at everything, is without flaw and is incredibly dull. She is a marysue and thus not interesting. Finn had potential to make for a cool and unique story perspective as a former stormtrooper with conflicting loyalties.
That would have been a better idea and a better film. The final duel at the end on the deathstar 3.0 kills the film.
